The fine folks at Ingram US, out of Santa Anna, have officially jumped into the Digital Signage industry.
Kevin Prewett, a good guy I got the chance to meet a while ago, is quoted extensively in this article
For those of you who may be unfamiliar with Ingram, they are, I believe, the 70th largest company, having just passed Coca-Cola in revenue/sales. They act as a distributor and professsional services arm, amongst many other things, on the Distributor/IT/Infrastructure/Management/electronics/etc front. Their execution of Digital Signage happens through their enormous VAR network.
They bring an enormous amount of credibility and comfort to larger companies looking to execute Digital Signage in almost any environment, which is a very good thing for the industry. And they also wouldn’t be getting into the business unless they felt it was worthwhile. As Kevin said:
“You have a multi-billion dollar market out there and the growth is phenomenal both in the market and in the channel. We’ve seen the market growing at high double digit rates over the last several years and continuing to do that,” Prewett said.
The vendors they list as partners include: Samsung, NEC, Sony Electronics, ViewSonic, Planar, Cisco, Peerless, AOpen, AVI and Minicom
Ingram has been playing in the space for a while but it looks like they just decided to go public and fully launch the division out to their VARs and customers
