Showcase Showcase Media just issued a press release launching their Taxi Screen Network in Toronto. I know Adam at Showcase and the company has already been in operations in Taxis in the Durham region.

 Despite…

Despite the anger in New York over the in-cab unitsNYC TAxi, Toronto’s transit screen networks seem to be coming up and accepted quite well with a number of advertisers and consumers.

Jason Powers over at URHereTV URHere, another Toronto based cab network, has actually had customers request content and messaging from consumers and patrons.

There’s actually 1 more cab network being deployed in T.O. as well but I can’t locate their info right now so will post later when I find it.

DISCLAIMER: I’ve placed a number of campaigns with the T.O. cab networks through ADCENTRICITY

As Digital Signage serves as a great “in between” medium for advertisers to help support campaigns, I’ve found that these cab networks do a great job at hitting interesting targeted audiences. They had some tough times in early days with limited advertiser acceptance but the attitudes seem to be changing. [UPDATE: Oct 23, 2007 - Not everyone is so taken with the cab networks.  My buddy Dave Haynes has his own take here]

Apparently there’s over 2,000+ cabs that may get Digital Signage in Toronto in the next 12 months so this should be interesting to watch

UPDATE: Oct 23, 2007 - Apparently on the same day I wrote this post, the NYC taxi drivers (TLC) went on strike again.
